How does Osteopathy Work ?
Osteopathy aims to restore function by making small adjustments to the structure.
Osteopaths use their hands to assess the underlying cause of pain and dysfunction and to carry out treatment.
Techniques include soft tissue stretching, rhythmic joint movements, spinal and peripheral joint manipulation and cranial technique.
The type of treatment given will depend on the individual needs of the patient.
About Treatment
After taking a case history and examining the patient, the osteopath will discuss the diagnosis and treatment plan with the patient before commencing treatment.
Osteopaths are trained to assess each individual case, to look for and exclude a medical cause for the pain.
If the osteopath considers osteopathy is not suitable treatment they will advise the patient of whom to consult.
